It’s All Fun and Games Until Somone Gets Compound Fractures Over Their Entire Body – ‘Asobi Asobase’ Episode 3 Review

It’s All Fun and Games Until Somone Gets Compound Fractures Over Their Entire Body – An Anime QandA Review of ‘Asobi Asobase’ Episode 3

What’s the show? Asobi Asobase, Episode 3.

So any more scary faces this week? A couple of course but things are just a bit more calmer than last episode—visually speaking.

I take it by that qualifier the episode is still quite insane? Indeed, as too be expected from this weekly installment of laid back insanity!

These girls…

Why do I get the feeling like you’re stalling here? Sometimes comedy is really hard to write a review about, okay? Especially comedy that comes in such fragmented—almost sketch sized portions as this one. In fact I was having trouble even knowing what to write next, so you know what I did?

What? Something I never do. I watched the episode again and decided to record my thoughts as it went along!

So I’ve heard…

Wait, but how am I supposed to follow along with— shhh, it’s starting! You know despite their occasionally terrifying reaction faces these girls are surprisingly cute… also the game they play in the first half of the episode “Issei no se” I swear I have no idea how it’s supposed to be played despite being explained the rules twice… also I had to google what “apocrine sweat glands” meant. Still not sure I get the joke but girls sniffing each other’s armpits is pretty much unexpected comedy gold nonetheless—

The horror faces never completely go away!

—Please for the love of god, stop! Stream of conciousness ramblings barely qualifies as content! Ugh, fine I’ll try and review this properly. So in the second segment we’re introduced to the girls English teacher and uh… wow I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a sorry excuse for a desperate single female teacher in an anime and there’s a /lot of them! They try making a twitter account for her and well… things go about as well as expected. I both dread and look-forward to seeing future adventures with this pathetic sensei.

Well you will with that attitude!

And in the third part? Yes! Here’s where the pure comedy gold is, not only do we get the return of the Student Council President trying to kick the ‘Pastimer’s Club’ out of their room to make room for the ‘Shogi Club’ but we also get the most high-stakes—and nearly fatal—game of “shoe launching” and now here is a game I can relate to, I remember many a lunch breaks playing this stupid and addictive “game”! Though I can’t say things quite got to the point where I got compound fractures over my entire body and had to be home-schooled! I laughed way too hard at the Shogi Club’s president’s bicycle assisted ‘shoe launch’ and subsequent tumble!

Extreme!

So seeing as you had so much trouble writing this review at first—what does that mean for the rest of the series? It means I’ll have to get better at writing weekly reviews for comedies, that’s what it bloody well means! I don’t want to stop reviewing this show because every week it feels like a rare treat, but I’ve got to find something more substantial to talk about than just what jokes made me laugh! Such are the dilemmas of the seasonal anime watcher!

Close enough.

I love anime and more recently manga too. What else do I need to write here?
