Day 30 – Sexiest Overall Anime

The difference between this and the previous category is while To Love Ru Darkness 2nd has the best, most consistent and overall highest quality of fan service. The fact that only (arguably) two pursue him sexually means that overall the anime is less sexy than my pick for ‘Sexiest Overall Anime’ which is ‘Monster Musume: Everyday Life With Monster Girls’. All of the girls (arguably) are pursuing sexual relationships with Kirihito which creates an energy throughout the entire show that few shows can compete with. Added to that the fact that (arguably) all the women in this harem are powerful monster girls who can (and often do) take the dominant roles sexually gives the series a different feel than other harems. While the inherent art and animation is arguably better in the aforementioned ‘To Love Ru-Darkness series’, Monster Musume makes more of a case for the inherent sex factor of something very different to the norm.

Day 29 – Series With The Best Fan Service

This should come as no surprise to anyone who’s read the previous picks but the ‘To Love-Ru Darkness series’ easily wins series with the best fan service. From the consistent quality of the artwork and animations and the varied nature in which its presented to the different cup-sizes on the girls (and women) and of course the frequency of its appearance throughout the series. There’s not a single piece of ugly or hurried or misplaced piece of fan service in this series and it’s all these things that contribute to making To Love-Ru Darkness the anime series with the best fan service.

Day 28 – Series With The Worst Fan Service

Sometimes a show tries to be sexy and just fails, and there’s many reasons this can happen, disproportionate bodies, ugly art in general, a lack of atmosphere or even just that the characters are so unlikable no amount of ~lewding~ will fix. Far be it from me to kink shame but Iya na Kao sare nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai is not sexy. If you don’t know what it’s about it’s a short (OVA) anime about (mostly) women in positions of servitude (maid, idol, nun, shrine maiden, nurse) who are pestered into showing their underwear to the viewer while they make a disgusted face. And yes it’s at the very least well drawn but there’s so little movement or animation in the fan service that watching each girl slowly and begrudgingly lift up their skirt for the viewer is like waiting for a lewd image to load on dial-up internet (there’s a reference that shows my age). If you like this kind of thing that’s fine, I like some questionable stuff too, but generally speaking I like my anime fan service to be fun and pleasurable for everyone involved.

Bikini Warriors isn’t a bad anime, it’s just dumb and mediocre and too short to be taken seriously. But by the measure of quality of show to quality of fan service this show has it “stacked” well in favour of the fan service. Day 26 – Best Comedic Fan Service Moment/Trope

Remember hot summer days as a kid when the greatest treat you could possibly receive is an ice cream! Well it’s hard to ignore anime’s steady perversion of enjoying this frozen treat into the equivalent of whatever character is partaking of them into an anaolgue for felatio. You’ll see this kind of scene all over the ecchi anime map but nowhere has it been funnier or more aggressively symbolistic than during this exaggerated fantasy sequence in ‘To Love-Ru Darkness’ Episode 12: “Room ~A Maiden’s Feelings”! Talk about getting an ice cream headache, emphasis on the head!

Day 25 – Most Unexpected Fan Service From An Anime

It’s fair to say that fan service exists in a lot of anime, even in ones not typically known for such, CGDCT show, shonen shows even dark and gritty shows indulge from time-to-time, so it takes a lot for something to be ‘unexpected’ or rather it takes a certain kind of anime to pull off the unexpected and make it unexpected. Does that make sense? Probably not but hopefully my choice will! We’re going way back into the innocent days of the early 2000’s for this pick, not just for when the anime came out but when I watched it too. Back then, when I was in high-school I didn’t even ~know~ what an “ecchi” was let alone that certain anime genre themselves as such. So imagine my surprise when a quaint and seemingly reserved little show like ‘Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi’ unfolded into an ecchi (albeit tame by some standards) filled comedy extravaganza. Even to this day the appearance of Miss Mune-Mune still catches me off guard–in all the right ways!

Day 24 – Sexiest Character Trope/Trait

A character trope can be many things, it can be a certain hairstyle or other visual facial clue, it can be something a character wears or even the way they wear it, it can even be personality based or in the way they talk. But what’s important about this day’s challenge is that it has to be a character trope that you find sexy 90% of the time it shows up–regardless of the anime or the character its on! I had a tough time picking one, so I’ve cheated and picked two, a personality trait and a visual trait. First is the flirt, you know the kind of girl who saddles up next to the protagonist and says something suggestive in a breathy voice. Or as is the case with Akeno from ‘High School DxD series’ climbs into bed nude with the protagonist and says something suggestive in a breathy voice.

The second trope I’ve gone for is the tanned tomboy which sure there aren’t as many in anime as there are in hentai which is probably what my mind is thinking of but characters like Homura in the ‘Senran Kagura series’ are always a treat, and add the ‘genki’ trope to tanned tomboy you’ve pretty much got an instant sexy best girl! Oh and don’t even get me started on those tanlines…

Day 23 – Best “Pervert” Character

There’s a lot of pervert characters out there in the world of anime, and generally speaking male perverts range between mildly amusing and occasionally endearing (Kenchi Saruyama from To Love-Ru) to utterly obnoxious (Mineta from My Hero Academia). Female perverts often fare better, though I’d say that’s more because it’s a less expected character trait for women to have–or at the very least to be overt about it. So with all that in mind, my favourite “Pervert” character is arguably the most perverted female but simultaneously the one least aware that she actually is one. Anna Nishikinomiya from Shimoneta: A Boring World Where Dirty Jokes Don’t Exist is a perverted goddess, and somehow the most perverted girl in a show where practically ~all~ the main girls are perverts. Across the length of the series she masturbates in public, attempts to ‘sexually assault’ the protagonist on multiple occasions and fills a water bottle with her “love fluids” and tries to get him to drink them–all under the guise of her actions being “pure” because they’re derived from her love for the protagonist. In a sense her “purity” of thought is what makes her a unique pervert because while she’s utterly misinterpreting hormonal lust as “love” it somehow makes her behaviour more endearing even at its most extreme.

Day 22 – Best Swimwear

This pick was a lot more difficult than I expected, unlike lingerie which offers a lot of room for customisation, with straps and garters and windows and different materials and textures and levels of transparency. Swimwear has only a few different styles, with the variations coming in colours, patterns and ‘extras’ (frills and bows and such) and let’s not forget school swimsuits! And considering just about every anime girl ends up in a bikini and some time in their life (at least in the shows I watch) there was a ridiculous amount to choose from. Funnily enough though, as I was recently watching through Date A Live II I found a twin set of bikini’s that felt all too perfect for this pick! Everything about Yuzuru and Kaguya’s ultra low riding bikinis are appealing and they compliment each other with the contrasting colours. Feel that summer heat!
