Real Neat Blog Award – Untold Questions

An Untold Questions blog regarding the ‘Real Neat Blog’ award.

Guess what? What!

Someone thinks you’re ‘real neat’ enough to get an award. Do they think I’m hip and happening and far out and outta sight, too?

Or maybe they just think you’re ‘neat’ as in ‘tidy’? I will also accept that.

But seriously you were nominated for another award ‘The Real Neat Blog Award’ (again)! Somehow I feel like that should read the ‘Real NEET Blog Award’ seems more appropriate all things considered.

I don’t know what that means. Quiet, normie!

Anyway… The Spooky Red Head nominated you! Truly the spookiest of redheads! Thanks for the nomination!

You know the drill, rules plz. Right, 1. Display The Award Logo, 2. Thank The Blogger Who Nominated You, 3. Answer The Questions Of The One Who Nominated You, 4. Nomination 5-10 Bloggers, 5. Ask Them 7 Questions.

Thems the rules! “Thems?”

Shut up, let’s just get to the questions…

  1. Do you have a favourite Care Bear?

That’s like asking if I favourite child! No, I have no children and I have no care bears that I care for, NEXT QUESTION!

  1. What about a favourite My Little Pony?

Why do I feel like I’m being interrogated here? No I’ve never masturbated to MLP hentai, no matter how much you torture me I’ll never admit to it in a court of law! But seriously, no, I do not partake of the “pony”.

  1. Who’s your favourite sailor scout?

Whichever one was gay with the other one, the one where in the English dub they made them sister’s because… “we shan’t dare have something as debauched as same sex relations on this cartoon!” Yeah but I never watched much Sailor Moon either! Talk about the trifecta of animated shows I’ve never watched!

  1. What genre of music do you like?

I like all genres, except country. Literally, just a look at my iTunes playlist it’s 8000+ tracks of the most random musical choices. But if I had to pick one genre it would be ~alternative~

  1. Do you have a favourite animal?

Do monster girls count? Because I’m partial to a snake girl, bird girl, horse girl and spider girl from Monster Musume… if not and you mean actual boring ass non-anime animal, then I dunno, a flamingo I guess…

  1. Favourite subject in school?

English, because I got to be a smart ass. And Japanese because I am become weeb.

  1. What’s your favourite Disney movie?

What makes you think this ‘Frozen Heart’ of mine likes Disney movies? Just ‘Let it Go’ already… ‘For The First Time In Forever’ I don’t have an answer, okay?

And that’s all the questions now? Yup.

So now you have to nominate 5-10 bloggers! So I heard… right so I nominate:

@negativeprimes (Curiously Dead Cat)

@wdbox (YahariBento)

@jiraiyan (Otaku Orbit)

@keikosanimeblog (Keiko’s Anime Blog)

@magicconan14 (Animanga Spellbook)

To those nominated just know there’s no obligation to make a post, I know things are busy for everyone, just take it in your stride. And to those I’ve neglected to nominate, SORRY! It’s hard to keep track!

And now you have to come up with 7 questions to ask them, no pressure to be interesting and funny FYI… FFFFFFFFFFFUUUU…

Questions? Right, so the questions are:

  1. If you had a BILLION money (currency of your choosing), how much of it would you spend on anime/manga?
  2. What’s your favourite Pokemon!?
  3. Do you play video games? If so what’s your favourite? (Or one of your favourites)
  4. If you could go back and time and tell your child self one thing, what would it be?
  5. How much money would it take for you to walk around the streets of your country’s biggest city holding a dakimakura (body pillow) of your favourite anime character?
  6. What do you like to put on your ice cream?
  7. What’s the meaning of your life? #toodeepforme

And that’s it is it? I think so! Man these award blogs are too much fun! At this point I think I’ve nominated nearly every one of my followers so from here out expect some repetition in who I nominate! Time to sleep now!

Goodnight. ‘Night.

20 Question Weekly Review Week Ending 11th March 2018

A 20 Question Weekly Review for the Week Ending 11th of March 2018.

Another week under the proverbial belt, huh? Indeed.

So a little birdy told me you spent a lot of money on anime merch and mangas last week? Who told you?

As I said a little birdy, a blue one by the name of twitter, you tweeted about it remember? Oh yeah, and yes. I sold some junk on eBay again + some inheritance allowed me to spend about it on merch and manga, one lust hurrah as it were before the scrimping and saving of being unemployed sets back in.

So care to share? Can’t, none of it arrived yet! It’s all due next week so expect a separate post about my various orders from Amazon Japan and Mandarake.

But you got a couple of manga this week? Yes from older orders.

And they were? Um… ‘Bloom Into You’ Volume 2, ‘How To Build A Dungeon: Book of the Demon King’ Volume 1, ‘Shomin Sample’ Volume 1 and ‘There’s A Demon Lord on the Floor’ Volumes 2, 3 and 4.

I’ve got to do something about better lighting when taking these shots.

Decent haul, and which manga did you read? I read ‘Shomin Sample’ which was a fun, but kind of nonsensical harem, like I get the story but there’s so many plot holes. But I’ll keep reading because the girls are super cute. I also read ‘No Game No Life Please’ Volume 1, which I thought was a comical a spin-off manga of the brilliant series ‘No Game No Life’ and it is, but it’s also insanely detailed, and has so much world building and development that I’d dare say its essential reading for fans of the series, which brings me to…

Something that’s not a good spin off? You got it! I read Volume 1 of ‘Monster Musume: I Heart Monster Girls’ and… well, talk about mixed bag. I guess that’s the problem when you have over a dozen authors contributing stories short 4-panel style comics to the Monster Musume universe. Some of these authors just plain suck! Sure it was fun to see some different art styles to these beloved characters, but at least half of the stories were just boring at best and at worst completely out of character.

You’re sounding a bit like a monster girl hipster, wow, there’s a sentence I never thought I’d say… Maybe I am, but reading the really good coolkyoushinja and Shake-O’s chapters it was clear there was a great divide in talent between some of the contributors.

And the other one you read? Hehehe…

Oh dear, I’m in for something perverted now aren’t I? How dare you! I’ll have you know ‘How To Build A Dungeon: Book of the Demon King’ is a totally wholesome… BAHAHA, oh god I couldn’t keep up that ruse any longer!

Right, so go on and tell me what it’s about… It’s hard to explain, right so if you ever played Dungeon Building games like the 90’s game ‘Dungeon Keeper’, or its 2015 spiritual successor War for the Overworld, you’re kinda close to what this manga is about, except add in a WHOLE BUNCH OF SEX. Like literally every chapter has an explicit sex scene that’s about a pencil’s width from being literal porn… it’s great!

Uh-huh… so let’s quickly change the subject and talk about anime! Ok, sure, a good week of anime, nothing especially remarkable from previous weeks, though I’ve put Darling in the FranXX on a personal hiatus, I’ll go back to it every 6 episodes to make a quarterly post but I can’t deal with watching it week to week.

Fair enough, what was the best airing show of the week? Probably citrus (episode 10 review here), which is a sentence I didn’t expect to be saying, though that said Slow Start and Dagashi Kashi were very good too. Everything else was consistent with how it’s been throughout the season.

Any other anime? Oh yeah! I started watching Killing Bites, it’s silly but it’s a lot of fun.

Anything else to report from the week? Yes! I started writing a light novel, and with the exception of this blog it’s probably the most fun I’ve ever had writing something! I look forward to sharing it with you all!

Great, but I already knew that, I read your twitter posts, remember? Way to spoil my fun!

And on the site? New stuff! I made my first manga review on Nurse Hitomi’s Monster Infirmary, which should become a weekly occurrence (different manga each week FYI), and also a Top 10 List of the Best OP’s of the 2018 Winter Anime season under the ‘Listing Compulsive’ banner, hopefully people enjoy these new types of posts because they’re not going away any time soon!

And that’s it then? I think so, yeah.

Great so how would you rate the week ending 11th of March 2018. A great week for starting new things, I’m really enthusiastic about all my new projects both on the site and in my creative writing! Thank you all for reading and continuing to support my blog!

Monster Musume – 20 Question Anime Review (Mild Spoilers)

A 20 Question Anime Review for Monster Musume.

What’s the show? Monster Musume: Everyday Life With Monster Girls.

Right. And what’s it about? Body positivity.

Ah, okay. Cool, what else? Sexy sexy monster ladies.

That’s what I assumed you would have said first, so harem anime then? Indeed!

MonMusu1

So who are these characters? Miia, is a Lamia (snake girl) and the first of protagonist Kimihito’s burgeoning harem, taking part in an interspecies cultural exchange and thus living under his roof, much to his conflicted feelings. Later joins Papi the Harpy (bird girl), Centorea the Centaur (horse girl), Suu the Slime (the blue one), Mero the Mermaid (duh) and Rachnera the Arachne (yikes a spider!) They all end up living under the one roof, vying for “darling’s” affections while trying to get along with each other and dealing with a world that’s only recently become aware of the existence of Liminals (monster girls).

Right, talk about a full house *cues Full House intro music* I don’t know what that is, but cool reference bro?

Shuddup. So, I have an awkward question, and I feel like I’m going to offend someone by saying this but I have to since it’s my job and all but… well, monster girls + harem, are these characters supposed to be sexy? Because I’m not really feeling it… OH. MY. GOD. I can’t believe you just said that! How racist do you want to be?

They aren’t real races so it’s not racist; I was just asking the question… No, stop! Don’t you dare say another bad word about my monster waifus!

So I take it that some people do find them attractive then? Yeah mate and you’re talking to one, want to fight about it?!

MonMusuGif4

Sorry, I’m not here to judge you for what you find attractive, different stokes and all that… [Crude joke about ‘stroking something’, deemed too obscene for wordpress.com].

Okay then… so let’s get back on topic. What’s the show about besides ogling monster girls? A lot actually! Well, not really with regard to plot, but when it comes to character development this show delivers! Every one of the girls has their various likes and dislikes and dissonant personalities that either clash or compliment with other girls and that of Kimihito. For some girls he almost ends up feeling more like a father figure or big brother, whereas other girls are exceedingly attracted to him because of his boundless compassion towards monster girls no matter what they look like!

I said I was sorry! I’ll forgive you once you pick one of them to be your ‘best girl’.

MonMusuGif6.gif

What? No, I don’t do that, I’m not into anime like you are. DO IT! Or I’ll turn this blog around and no one is going to Disneyland!

Fine! Uh… ah, I mean, I guess… the mermaid? BOO! No one likes Mero, you fail, you only picked her because you’ve been preconditioned by the Disney corporation!

What’s with all these Disney references? I DON’T KNOW.

And all the shouting? I don’t know…

MonMusuGif5

Fine then, who is your best girl? Probably Papi, I mean she is a bit of a birdbrain but she has the best booty and you know I’m all about the booty. But then there’s Rachnera, yes she’s a spider, which is like a totally bad time for an arachnophobe like me, but she’s absolutely the kinkiest of the bunch into BDSM and all that. But then there’s Suu, and well yeah she’s a slime and almost kills ‘darling’ on more than a few occasions by nearly drowning him in her cleavage but being able to change her cup size on the fly has to make for some good variety. But then there’s Centorea, she’s just so noble and pure and devoted and did somebody say I-cup, yowza! Oh but then there’s Miia, she’s been there since the beginning and well if there’s anyone who is DTF amongst the monster girls it’s her!

Jesus! You didn’t even put this much thought into your entire Steins;Gate review, and that was about as something as complicated as time travel! What can I say; I take the business of ‘best girl’ very seriously.

MonMusuGif3

More like you’re a serious pervert… Hey! What did I say about kink shaming? None of that here thank you very much!

Fine, final verdict? I could talk all day about this show, and not just because I’m into monster girls, what I’m into is well rounded characters with flaws and hang ups and genuine emotions as they deal with a world that’s often less accepting of the parts of them that makes them different from other stereotypical beautiful girls out there. As a protagonist and centre of a harem anime, Kimihito is admittedly kind of bland but he’s also unfailing kind, accommodating and understanding of every monster girl he comes into contact with, not just those who live with him. It’s something that’s not only admirable but also endearing and should make whatever reservations you have about this kind of show (harem/ecchi/fan-service, etc.) feel minor. Yes he’s attracted to these girls, but he also treats and acknowledges them all as unique individuals and seeks to make each of their lives better no matter the cost to himself. A monstrous 89 out of 100.
