New Blogging Schedule

A post detailing the new blogging schedule which promises more content for the site going forward!

Hello everyone, first of all I’d like to apologise for the somewhat ~negative~ spin the content on my site has taken over the past few weeks months also the general lack of content altogether. I’ve been working through some things, trying to get myself in the right headspace to continue blogging in a more structured, full-time capacity like I used to do. I’ve come to the conclusion that despite my seemingly laissez-faire attitude towards the blogging process I do in fact need structure in order to produce positive content–and POSITIVITY is the key going forward! Starting from June 3rd I’ll be posting almost every day of the week, with a specific ~type~ of post going out on each given day. The schedule is as follows:

Mondays
Seasonal Anime Weekly

As the name (hopefully) suggests this’ll be my thoughts on each of the seasonal anime I’m watching week-to-week. As with the current season I still intend to watch 15+ new anime each week as watching seasonally is something I adore and so this weekly post will be a rundown on my thoughts on each new episode of a currently airing seasonal anime I watched just all in the one place. Kind of like my “Watched But Not Reviewed’ series of posts I used to do, just with a less confusing name. (Note: These posts won’t start until July when the new anime season starts, seems kind of silly to start this nearly two thirds of a way through the current season).

Tuesdays
Listing Compulsive

I’ve been using the ‘Listing Compulsive’ blog category on WordPress.com for all my Top 10 lists but don’t be ashamed if you don’t recognise the name, I don’t think I’ve every referred to the name in the introduction to any of my lists (maybe the very first one). But yeah basically this’ll be a weekly anime or manga related top 10 list. Simple as that!

Wednesdays
Random Content

What’s life without a little spontaneity? Basically, Wednesday’s will be home to things like my travel posts, merch spotlights and whatever other random content that doesn’t fit into the other categories already assigned.

Thursdays
QandA Manga Reviews

I’ve done a few of these already but as the name implies it’s just reviews of manga in my trademark (ha!) QandA style. Every so often I might throw in an ‘Anime vs Manga’ post instead of a manga review.

Fridays
Seasonal Collab Review [Every Second Week]

Nothing’s gonna stop me from collaborating with Irina (of DrunkenAnimeBlog.com fame) on a weekly basis! Obviously these posts will alternate between appearing on her site and mine each week hence the “[Every Second Week]” addendum.

Saturdays
‘To Love-Ru’ Anime QandA Special Series

Okay, so in what I’m calling my “passion project”, each Saturday will see a post dedicated to my favourite anime series of all time ‘To Love-Ru’ (that’s including all the sequel seasons FYI). What this entails is basically a smorgasbord of content, episodic reviews, anime to manga comparisons, maybe even a couple of sneaky collabs if I’m lucky! It’s likely to take at least 100 weeks to go through all the content I want to, hence why its earning a semi-permanent spot on the schedule!

***

And that’s it for the schedule, obviously things are subject to change, posts might be delayed or moved to different days given IRL circumstances, and of course there’s always the chance a seasonal show captivates me enough to talk about it week-to-week. Also one more piece of site related housekeeping, in the interest of making this site more positive I won’t be posting parts 2 and 3 of my ‘Critical of Criticism’ rants–I don’t feel like they’re in-line with what I want for the site going forward. The only reason I’m keeping the post up at all is because of the supportive comments I got from Pete and Crow which helped fuel this “new” direction for the site. Other than that though this is more than likely the future of Anime QandA, I hope it looks interesting and I’ll see you again in the next post!

Domain Acquired! – Untold Questions

An Untold Questions post about Acquiring a Domain name for Anime QandA.

What’s this? animeqanda.com? What happened to the .wordpress part? It’s gone! I bought the gosh darn domain, son!

I’m not your son, also, what? Why? Why? Why not? Gotta spend money to make money!

That’s a terrible attitude to have, also, I feel naked without the .wordpress part… Please, the last thing I want to do is imagine you naked…

Ugh, so what’s this all mean anyway? I don’t know! I’ve never owned a domain before! Exciting times! Basically for all of my lovely wordpress followers it means if you want to link to my page for whatever reason, just use animeqanda.com from now on! For me though, hopefully it’s another step in the direction of making this silly blog of mine a part of my primary income! Sure it’s still a ways off from becoming a reality but hey a step forward is better than no step at all!

Ads… ads as far as the eye can see! Shh~ listen, this blog ain’t gonna monetize itself without a few extra ads about the place… it’s just capitalism, baby!

Uh-huh. So, uh… does this mean I finally get paid? We’ll see… what would you even spend it on anyway, you don’t exist remember!

Hey! Don’t discriminate against the ‘existence impaired’ we have rights too! …So anyway, that’s all this little ~update~ was about. I know there’s been a few update posts what with the Patreon update post earlier which hardly make for the most entertaining reading, but things should be back to normal after this. Thanks for reading!

Site Update May 9th 2018 – Untold Questions

A Site Update for May 9th 2018.

Site news, huh? Yup, nothing too serious, just more letting you know what you can come to expect from the site going forward!

Right, so go on then! So basically, I’m going to be doing less of the week-to-week single episode reviews, while they’re pretty easy to write—especially compared to the 20 Question Reviews—I’m ultimately not 100% happy with the quality of them. I think I can do better, but at the same time writing as many as I’m writing and improving the quality isn’t really an option as I want to be able to spend more of my time doing creative writing (i.e. working on my novels) as well as working on better blog content like lists, essays and manga reviews (which take a lot more time).

So basically breaking the promise you made to review every show you’re watching this anime season? Listen, it’s a learning experience for me, I’d never reviewed seasonal anime on this scale before! Okay?

I don’t actually care, means less work for me… It’s not like it’s going to stop reviewing week-to-week entirely, there’s still quite a few shows I want to review each week. I’m just going to stop reviewing the show’s that a) aren’t getting many views/interaction and b) the shows I don’t enjoy writing reviews for.

Okay, so which of the show’s you’re watching are going to continue to review and which are not? Anime with a strikethrough are no longer being reviewed week-to-week but will have a 20 Question Anime Review at the end of the season.

Butlers x Battlers
Caligula
Comic Girls
Food Wars! The Third Plate
High School DxD Hero
Hinamatsuri
Isekai Izakaya: Japanese Food From Another World
Kakuriyo -Bed and Breakfast for Spirits
Last Period: the journey to the end of the despair
The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These
Magical Girl Ore
My Hero Academia 3rd Season
PERSONA 5 the Animation
Space Battleship Tiramisu

Steins;Gate 0
Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online
Tokyo Ghoul:re
Uma Musume: Pretty Derby!

That’s a lot. Well, I’m still reviewing nine shows week-to-week, also because I am still watching all these shows I reserve the right to occasionally review episodes that I find something worthwhile to talk about like how last anime season I did occasional reviews of particularly noteworthy episodes.

And what if people want to know your thoughts on an episode of a show that you’re no longer reviewing week-to-week? They can just ask me on Twitter!

Fair enough, anything else? Not really, I just hope nobody is too disappointed by this decision, but I ultimately think it’s going to prove for the best for the blog as there will be a lot more unique content on the site! I’d like to have weekly essays along the lines of my recent “Dying For Nothing” essay. As well as multiple anime related Top 10 lists and more 20 Question Anime and Manga reviews!

Site News April 11th 2018 – Untold Questions

Site News for April 11th 2018.

Site news in a question format? Well it’s more interesting to read than a wall of text.

Wow, way to insult 99% of your fellow anime bloggers and bloggers in general! I didn’t mean it like that! I was just meaning people are more likely to read a post as boring as site news for my site if it’s structured in my QandA format! Geez!

Well this post is already off to a great start. Yeah, no thanks to you!

So what was so important that you couldn’t just tweet about it? Not all the people who read my blog follow me on Twitter…

Just get on with it! Fine… so first bit of site news is in regard to Spring 2018 anime and how I intend to review them. Originally, the plan was to do a review post for every episode of the 25~ shows I’m watching, every week until the end. And while I think I’ve been managing to do it fine so far, the reality is I will run out of things to talk about, not every episode will have enough content for a full review and the last thing I want to do is make posts of a lower quality as that will annoy not only you but me as well. So basically, going forward the episodes of some shows will be bundled together, so with some shows you might not see a review of a new episode for a couple of weeks and then once there’s enough for me to talk about you might get a bundled, ‘*insert anime name here* Episode 2 – 4 Anime QandA Review’. But if a show has enough to talk about week-to-week then you’ll see a Review for every episode, it will just depend on the show and how much I have to talk about.

Makes sense. Glad you agree, me.

Any other news? Yes, some of you may have already noticed (or probably not) but there was no ’20 Question Weekly Review’ post this Monday, you know the ones where I run down everything I watched and read and bought in the previous calendar week. Well that’s because I’ve cancelled them, I never really enjoyed writing them as much as my other content which would have been fine except they took the most time out of any of my blogs, so in other words too much effort for too little personal reward. Sorry if you enjoyed them but I kind of dreaded them each week!

Anything else? I forgot to do a manga review last week! They also take a little more time than normal reviews, but they are definitely NOT cancelled, just on hiatus until I can sort my shit out.

And what’s this collaboration business? You been stepping out on me with another question asker?! Quiet you, we were never exclusive! Yes, every week until the show is done Irina and I will be reviewing Uma Musume: Pretty Derby together, alternating styles between each week between my question format and her more conversational blog style. Last week it was Question format on my blog, and this week is on her blog, make sure to check it out!

Hmm, this Irina person is nothing but trouble! She’s a bad influence I just know it! Oohh~ someone’s jealous!

I am not! Sure sure. Anyway that’s all for this site update thingo, hopefully it wasn’t too boring to read. Here, have a gif for your troubles!

Untold Questions – The Future of Anime Q and A

An Untold Questions blog concerning the future of Anime Q and A.

What’s wrong? Oh you know, just thinking about the future.

Like flying cars and robots and colonising other planets and stuff? No, like my future and the blog’s future.

Oh, sounds kind of serious. It is, partially so, I mean it is just a blog it’s not life and death, but I’ve been here less than a month and it’s already something I enjoy doing more than a lot of things recently. 2017 was not a good year for me emotionally, but finishing the year off by quitting a job that I hated and going to Japan for three weeks was a real boon to my psyche. But it’s been three months since then and the money from my long service leave payout is almost entirely dried up, so either I go about getting a new job or…

Or? Or I try and make this my job.

This? Don’t be ridiculous. I can dream, can’t I?

You have 34 followers on wordpress, not exactly setting the blogging world on fire. I didn’t say it would be easy…

So what’s the point of this particular blog post exactly? I don’t know. I guess just to let my followers know that with their help I know I can succeed and achieve my goal. And that I’ve got big plans for this blog for the coming months whether I get a part time job or not!

Anything else? Yes, I can’t even begin to thank all the people who’ve liked my content over the past few weeks, it’s been such a boon to this poor writer’s heart, who’s always had the blogging spirit but never the drive or ideas to do so. But in 20 Question Anime Review’s I found a muse that’s a constant voice in my ear, pushing me to create more and more content.

Are you talking about me? Well, yeah. Otherwise none of this would be here…

I’ve never been someone’s muse before! Don’t get so excited, this is already weird enough as it is.

And I believe you wanted to ask your readers something too? Indeed. To all my fellow bloggers, you’ve already done so much, but I ask for your assistance in growing my audience. To the one’s who’ve reblogged and retweeted and recommended I couldn’t ask for more that would be selfish, but know I appreciate it every time you do. It feels like my words are going further than they have ever before and as a writer that’s all I could’ve hoped for. But what other advice would you give me to help grow my followers?

And you wanted to talk about collaborations too, yeah? Right, so obviously being new to wordpress blogging I don’t know a lot about collaborations, in fact to be blunt, I know nothing. For example whose blog do they go on? Do they go on both at the same time? Etc, please unfurl your great knowledge upon me so I can be a better blogger. Also and this is important, if anyone wants to collaborate with me, now would be a good time while I’m still unemployed! Drop me a message on twitter if you want to discuss ideas!

Was there site news too? Yes! Starting in March I’ll be doing 20 Question Manga Reviews! But as they’ll probably take a lot more time to organise, don’t expect more than one a week!

Cool, so that’s it then? For now, but feel free to leave any advice you have for an up and comer like me and once again thank you all for your continued support! Also, sorry if this post was a bit dry but kudos if you made it through ’til the end!
